The US rapper Cupcakke, otherwise known as Elizabeth Eden Harris, shared a series of tweets last night that led her fans to worrying about her well-being.
After tweeting about running from someone abusive, she then wrote: “I’m about to commit suicide” to her 406,000 followers.
Friends were endlessly tweeting, texting and calling the rapper trying to get hold of her while others were contacting the police.
One user, Elijah Daniel, shared updates he received from Chicago PD after calling them to check on her.
“Elizabeth is okay and at the hospital”
Although he didn’t have her address, after calling the police, he confirmed they were searching for her home by using her number after receiving a number of calls.
Providing constant updates, he wrote: “The Chicago police have her address now and are doing a wellness check.”
He later added: “Update: Chicago police got to Elizabeth’s place and she has been taken to hospital. I don’t have any further information beyond that, but will update when I do.”
In his final update about the rapper, he wrote: “Police not able to give me anymore details other than Elizabeth is okay and at the hospital.”
As the news broke, many of her pals sent messages of support, with Iggy Azalea writing: “Sending love to Cupcakke.
“I understand how hopeless and overwhelmed with negativity we can sometimes feel.
“I hope you’ll take some time with those that really know you best; then when you’re ready come back stronger than ever.”
Charli XCX was also one of the many artists to send a message to her, after working with her on multiple tracks for her mixtapes.
Sending out a long message, she included: “You are one of the most unique, genuine and loving people I have ever met in this industry.
“You are such a huge inspiration to so many kids, to so many artists to me.”
She then added: “We all love you so much Cupcakke. From the bottom of our hearts, please stay strong.
“Please confide in friends and family. You are such a beautiful and wonderful person and we simply cannot lose you.”
Cupcakke hasn’t tweeted since the worrying message, but she’s safely in hospital while getting help from professionals.
